Anthony Dinallo's music career began playing bass guitar in a 4 piece alternative rock band in 1990. This band, Neptune Fields, had its own unique sound for 1990 standards.
Neptune Fields had a fushion of sounds by the likes of Joy Division, the Cure, the Smtihs and REM. At the ripe old age of 16, Anthony began to play shows in New York City. His first show was at the now defunct Electric Lounge on 42nd Street in New York City.
After the break up of Neptune Fields, Anthony found himself playing bass in a ska-funk-punk band known as 7minds. 7minds achieved a moderate level of success in the New York/New Jersey area. Their songs, Seaside Tony and Coffee, enjoyed airplay on radio stations
such as, 106.3 WHTG in Eatontown, NJ, 88.3 WSOU (Seton Hall radio) in Montclair and 103.5 FM in New Jersey and made CMJ's top 20 in 1998.
After 7minds, Anthony decided to put down the bass and pick up the 6 string guitar, take vocal lessons and sing. Anthony went on to front a band known as, The Wanting. In this band, Dinallo went back to his roots writing songs which sound like we are back in 1990 when it all started for him.
The Wanting has been compared to The Cure, David Bowie, Depeche Mode and Love and Rockets amongst other early modern rock prioneers. They used to play live shows in the New York/New Jersey area but are currently defunct. You can listen to some of their songs at:
After The Wanting, Anthony played bass in a band called Mercury Morning. After Mercury Morning, came Sodium Sky where he sang and played bass and now Anthony is writing music on his own and is in the process of putting a new band together. Follow the link below to hear samples from these bands. |
